ANGKLUNG GOES TO SCHOOL

Angklung Goes to School, started in 2011, is a classroom program developed by House of Angklung
to give students an opportunity to play angklung in a fun and interactive way.
More than 1,000 students from 30 schools in DC metro area had played the instrument and
performed in their school or together with House of Angklung.

Angklung is Fun & Easy!

Every one can play Angklung! All you need to do is shake the instrument and smile. Students will play songs with Angklung even if they do not have any musical background.

Workshops

Angklung Goes to School (AGTS) has different type of workshop, which can be adjusted to  school needs. Here are some examples how it can be done in your school :
- 15 - 30 minutes workshop :
   Usually performed during International Night
- 30 - 60 minutes workshop :
  Performed in class room, 15 up to 100 students, 
  (grade 1 to 12)

Angklung is a great instrument to introduce students to other culture. AGTS offers students an opportunity to be part of Indonesian culture. They will touch, hold and play the bamboo instrument. Students will follow the conductor's instruction, which is the universal music hand sign, known as the Curwen Method.

This program has been approved by Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) as one of its Performing Art & Cultural Program since 2012. To see the MCPS Performing Arts Catalogue 2014-2015 click here.
